Dry Needling Therapy

Dry needling is a type of treatment designed to provide patients with pain relief and enhanced muscle movement. This treatment uses a dry needle – as the name suggests – yet one without any medicine. The insertion of the needle is intended to deactivate muscle trigger points. Dry needling treatments are often used in combination with other physical therapy techniques. At the office of Loren Stiteler, LAc in Los Angeles CA, we offer acupuncture and dry needling therapy to help patients find much needed pain relief, range of motion, and quality of life.

Our Dry Needling Treatments

The dry needling therapy we employ includes the insertion of a sterile, thin needle into the skin with the goal of pinpointing muscular trigger points. Needle lengths used vary based on the location of the body being treated. Typically the needles are used one time per muscle and then thrown away. Patients also experience little to no pain in the process.

The procedure often takes 15 to 20 minutes and typically provides pain relief from anywhere from a few hours to multiple weeks. Side effects are usually minor and temporary, such as bruising at the needling site, soreness, and fatigue or lack of energy.
